The X2 festival is run on charity and is thus completely dependent on eager volunteers to make the wheels go round.
We need you!
PERCS OF VOLUNTEERING:
Daypass or festivalpass depending on how much you work.
Free food while you work on the festival.
A cool volunteer t-shirt.
A unique experiences in beautiful surroundings.
Many new friends.

NOTE: When you apply as a volunteer, you automatically accept a volunteer contract. Click HERE to read through this.
As a volunteer, you can work in many different groups. Information about what kind of groups you can work in, and what the work involves, can be found below.
Everyone is welcome as a volunteer with us! There are no requirements for prior knowledge or experience, and we can guarantee that you will be well taken care of regardless of whether you come alone or not.
Working as a volunteer at the X2 festival offers many advantages. These are listed above. It is otherwise the case that one volunteer guard gives a day pass, while two volunteer guards qualify for a festival pass. When you work for volunteer guards, the starting point is that at least one of these must be a guard on the festival grounds. This means that if you wish to work as in sport, then this must be combined with a shift on the festival grounds (anten in crew, bar, Xrecycle or set-up/take-down). Artist host/driver is a big responsibility and cannot be combined with other roles. You can work as a watchman in the crew, bar or on decor, rigging or downrigging. Exceptions if you work on duty (security). Then you only need one volunteer guard to get a festival pass, as these guards can be quite long and demanding.
When can I expect to receive a response to the application?
Everyone can expect to get a job as a volunteer at the X2 festival. We need as much help as we can get. We start distributing volunteers in February, and work continuously to process applications. When this is done, you can expect to receive an email from the group leader(s) with more information. We go to great lengths to fulfill everyone's wishes, but unfortunately cannot promise that everyone will be fulfilled. It helps to register early.

GROUPS
CREW
As a volunteer in the crew, just like the bar volunteers, you will get to experience the festival from a different perspective. Not to mention, you will meet many new and wonderful people who help create memories for a lifetime! Throughout an evening, you will have a variety of tasks, such as exchanging tickets for festival wristbands at the entrance, ensuring festival attendees are having a great time and being available to assist, as well as tidying and organizing within the festival area. You will never be alone, and training will be provided before your shift.
DECOR
The decoration team's job is to make sure the festival area looks amazing! As a decoration volunteer, you'll take part in a lot of physical work, but also in detailed decorating. We're looking for those who want to help shape the X2 atmosphere at the festival and aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves! We work in the days leading up to the festival, so you should ideally be available for a few daytime shifts during the week before the event.

MEDIACREW
The media crew's role during the festival is to create content from everything happening at the festival, both day and night. The work pace is fast, and deadlines are tight. We need photographers, videographers, and editors who are solution-oriented and creative! Those who are extra eager can also contribute to creating promo material before the festival. Previous experience in film or photography is an advantage.
RIGGING UP/DOWN
Do you want to help shape the festival area while also experiencing the entire festival? Join as a rigger and work before or after the festival! Riggers are the ones who set up and take down the festival, working closely with the decoration team.
ARTISTS HOST
As an artist host, your task is to welcome the artists performing at the X2 Festival and ensure they have everything they need. Artist hosts are responsible for making sure food and drinks are always available, setting up a comfortable backstage area, and helping create the best possible experience for the artists in Volda. A driver's license is an advantage but not a requirement. We also need artist drivers, so please specify if you would like to be a driver.

GUARD
As a guard for the X2 Festival, you will have one of the most independent, important, and social roles during the festival’s evening operations. The guards are responsible for ensuring the general safety of all attendees at the festival’s evening events. We make sure that everyone inside the festival area is having a good time, behaving appropriately, and that the alcohol license regulations are followed. No prior experience is needed to become a guard, and we offer a security training course for those interested. A guard supervisor will be present throughout the festival to assist and guide volunteers. We are especially looking for people who enjoy being around others and care about the well-being of those around them. All guards must be 18 years or older. Throughout an evening, you will have a variety of tasks, such as exchanging tickets for festival wristbands at the entrance, ensuring festival attendees are having a great time and being available to assist, as well as tidying and organizing within the festival area. You will never be alone, and training will be provided before your shift.
BAR
Working in the bar during the festival gives you a unique opportunity to experience the evening events from a new perspective. The bar crew forms a close-knit team and gets to enjoy great music while working. No prior experience is needed to work in the bar—just a willingness to learn and, most importantly, a good mood! You will receive training before your shift starts, and a bar manager will be present throughout the evening to guide and support the volunteers. All bar volunteers must be 18 years or older.
X2RECYCLE
X2recycle is the festival’s green initiative. We are a small team that produces festival merch—everything from stylish upcycled clothing with sewn-on X2 logos to surf ponchos made from towels. In addition, we organize various social events before the festival, such as flea markets, swap nights, and “gear-fix” evenings. You can either join the sewing team, which meets regularly for sewing nights, or help as a friendly and outgoing seller for our cool merch during the festival itself.

XBASE
XBase is a spectacular wingsuit flying competition where athletes launch themselves from the mountains in an impressive aerial show. To make this event happen, we need dedicated volunteers who want to help create an unforgettable experience! As a volunteer, you'll assist with setting up and taking down equipment, as well as organizing helicopter lifts—including managing participant check-ins and handling payments (experience with payment terminals is a plus). You may also have the opportunity to help judge the landing competition. This is a unique chance to get up close to adrenaline-packed jumps and be part of the X2 Festival from the inside!
XFREE
XFree is a freeride competition for skilled skiers and snowboarders. This is an action-packed experience for both volunteers and the audience! If conditions and weather are favorable on the competition day, the event will take place at Trollbotn (Ørsta Ski Center – Bondalseidet). Volunteers will have various tasks both before and during the competition. XFree requires a good number of volunteers for registration/sign-ups, starters, pole pickers, setting up and taking down the basecamp, as well as volunteers to stay in the basecamp and create a great atmosphere.
XCREEK
XCreek is a raw and action-packed creek kayaking competition where paddlers take on steep drops and powerful rapids. This is an intense experience, not just for the athletes but also for volunteers and spectators! As a volunteer at XCreek, you need to be flexible with timing and comfortable with some improvisation. Your tasks may include guiding spectators to the competition area, timekeeping, and setting up the generator and sound system. If you have a large vehicle, that’s a big advantage—it’ll help transport essential equipment to the river.

XBOARD
XBoard is a high-speed downhill longboarding race where riders, fully geared up, charge down winding roads. Flag Marshals stand at designated spots along the course to ensure no unauthorized persons enter. You will also be given green and red flags to signal approaching riders. Starter is responsible for launching riders. You’ll check that all competitors have the proper gear and prevent false starts. Finish Line/Secretariat records the times and results as riders cross the finish line. Course Crew helps set up and take down safety equipment along the track.
XSPEED
XSPeed is a fast-paced and spectacular part of the X2 Festival, and we need enthusiastic volunteers to help create an unforgettable experience! Are you ready to elevate the atmosphere and contribute to both safety and fun at the landing zone? As a volunteer, you’ll assist with setting up and taking down equipment, help with organizing and processing payments for helicopter lifts (experience with payment terminals is a plus), and judge the landing competition. You’ll also play a key role in creating an energetic vibe by managing music, releasing smoke effects, and keeping the excitement alive. Weather conditions may affect the schedule from day to day, but no matter what, this is a unique opportunity to get close to the action and be part of the X2 Festival!
XWAVE
XWave is a surfing competition that is part of the Norwegian Cup, bringing the best surfers in the country to compete. Volunteers play a crucial role in making the competition happen and take on various tasks throughout the day. The XWave volunteer tasks (in collaboration with sports manager) include: packing equipment in Volda, driving to the competition beach, setting up tents, organizing the administration area, music, the judges' podium, placing beach flags, and managing the kiosk. All of this must be set up before the participants arrive, meaning an early start to the day. Before the competition begins, all participants must be registered at the administration desk. During the competition, tasks include: keeping time for the surf heats, signaling to participants in the water, collecting and distributing competition vests, running the kiosk, and cleaning up/trash collection. After the competition, everything needs to be packed down and transported back to the storage in Volda. Volunteers should expect 10-12 hours of work, with the team usually returning to Volda around 6 PM. XWave offers volunteers a beautiful day at the beach!
XSKATE
XSkate is a skate competition that takes place indoors at Møre Skatehall. The event is one of the audience favorites at X2. One of the tasks for the volunteers will therefore be to organize and make space for as many people as possible inside the skate hall. In addition, tasks include setting up and taking down various equipment, sweeping the hall for dust before the competition, and registering participants. As a volunteer, you get to experience the entire competition up close, making it a great opportunity for those interested in skateboarding!

XSPLASH
XSplash is a Dødsing (death diving) competition and an exciting new addition to the X2 Festival. Are you ready to be part of making history? We need enthusiastic and energetic volunteers to help make XSplash an unforgettable experience! As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to take on various tasks, meet amazing people, and experience the festival from the inside. Your responsibilities may include setting up and taking down festival areas, guiding participants and athletes, and ensuring the event runs smoothly. You’ll also play a key role in creating a safe and positive festival environment. This is a unique chance to get close to the action and be part of the X2 Festival!
XBIKE
XBike is the most thrilling cycling competition at the X2 Festival, and we need dedicated volunteers to help create an unforgettable experience! Are you ready to be part of an adrenaline-fueled race packed with speed and excitement? As a volunteer, you’ll assist with timekeeping, act as a course marshal to ensure the race runs smoothly, and notify the race officials or Red Cross if participants need help. You’ll also help with setting up and taking down the event area, including the finish line and race headquarters, playing a key role in maintaining a safe and positive competition environment. This is a unique opportunity to get close to the action, meet new people, and experience the X2 Festival from the inside!
XCLIMB
XClimb is a thrilling climbing competition where athletes push their limits on challenging routes. The event takes place in the Ørsta Climbing Hall, and volunteers are essential before, during, and after the competition.
